Daniella Medina (they/them) is a PhD student studying Marxian Political Economy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Their interests converge around the political economy of space, identity, and urban development, mediating between open/dialectical Marxian political economy, Black radical philosophy, Gender and Queer theory, postmodern thought, complexity theory, spatial philosophy, and critical geography.
Daniella has an M.S. in Economic Policy and Theory from the Levy Institute of Economics at Bard College with dual foci in Gender and Time Poverty and Stratification/inequality-related econometric research. Their Master’s Thesis was an econometric exploration of single-headed households ability to react to economic shocks, at the intersection of race and gender. They have taught as a visiting scholar at Bard College, Marist College, the State University of New York at New Paltz, and most recently, The University of Massachusetts Amherst. Currently, Daniella is a research assistant for Jeannette Wicks-Lim and Michelle Holder through the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
